Pick A Pack: Cotopaxi Kilimanjaro 20L Backpack
I love backpacks. I frequently shop for backpacks and most often find one that I just "have to have". This backpack from Cotopaxi was one of those. We love Cotopaxi - the company. We were introduced to them through our Cairn monthly subscription and have been purchasing gear from them ever since.
I bought this pack specifically for a work trip to NYC. I had been using my Cotopaxi Luzon backpack on my scooter to carry lunch and stuff to work here in Southern California. But for this, my first work trip (!), I needed a bag with a little more structure and pockets, and a laptop sleeve. I wanted something a little different than the technical hiking packs that I currently own.
So the details on the Cotopaxi Kilimanjaro: This is a 20 liter pack. It definitely holds a lot, while still remaining compact. My 15" Macbook Pro fit easily in the built in sleeve. Some mega design points on this bag is that the sleeve stops a few inches above the bottom of the bag, so when you set it down, the bag isn't resting on the edge of your laptop. I very easily fit a few snacks, a jacket, a water bottle and my EDC - Kindle, keys, wallet, Airpods, and pill case.
It has two front outside pockets. One larger pocket on the bottom of the pack, that easily holds my Kindle Paperwhite and a smaller pocket on the top with a pen holder and small business card sleeve. This top pocket is great for those items you need quick access to like a wallet, keys, phone, etc.
It also has two water bottle pockets - one on each side of the bag - that are big enough for a Hydroflask.
This pack worked perfectly on my trip to the big city. I ended up being there for a "Nor'easter" and had to walk through a snow storm with my computer in my pack, with no umbrella. Nothing got wet inside despite walking through a lot of precipitation. It worked great for traveling, too, not taking up too much foot space on the plane, but still holding all my entertainment and snacks my six hour flights across the country.
This pack will definitely be going on more trips. I use it everyday at home on my scooter, probably because its new and shiny, but also just because its a great pack with just a few more features than the Luzon.
I have taken it on day trips up to LA, a quick weekend trip to San Francisco, on trains rides, and while biking the city and Golden Gate Bridge.
