Cairn Box: December 2016 Review

Cairn Box: December 2016 Review

Our December 2016 Cairn Box arrived just in time to be tucked under the Christmas Tree. This month’s box packed in some great items. We've been subscribers of Cairn for awhile now, and are going to start reviewing the boxes regularly. Here is what we got in our final 2016 box:

Human Gear - GoBites Duo - Nesting fork and spook set

This is a cool little utensil. The fork and spoon nest together, separate for use, and can be extended attached for a longer utensil. If you eat the  common freeze-dried meals in a bag, you know how important a long spoon can be. This will be joining our regular gear stash.

Fix-n-Zip - Zipper Repair - Zipper pull replacement

Simple, but could come in amazingly handy. This is likely to join our “always with us” stash, because you never know when a backpack, jacket, tent, or sleeping bag might need a replacement. This is one of those items that you don’t need until you need it, so it will be good to have when the time comes!

PlayHard GiveBack - Trail Mix - Dried Cranberries, banana chips, peanut butter cups, and protein bites

High quality, delicious sounding snack. We haven’t enjoyed this yet, but it’ll go on a hike soon and we’ll be sure to put on Instagram when we think of it. Sounds wonderful though!

Gobi Gear - Seg Sac - Segmented stuff sack, 20L

This is a keeper. Stuff sacks tend to just be full of clothes and stuff, in no common sense order. They tend to have to be dumped out to get to the item you need. This sack is segmented into four sections, so things can be kept a little more organized. Very lightweight, sturdy, and will come in very handy while traveling and backpacking. I’m already imagining the simple joy of keeping dirty things separate from clean things, or just keeping socks accessible rather than at the bottom of a sack. Four vertical sections, water resistant, drawstring cord lock, ultralight Cordura 30D nylon.

An additional perk this month was the adorable paper with snowmen made of cairns! Bonus star for that added creative touch this month!

As always, the box contained a card with info on each item and discount options for future purchases, as well as a Cairn sticker. We don’t receive anything from them for free, we are regular subscribers, and we love the stuff we get, and the surprise box of goodies every month!

In the past, we've received some amazing stuff, such as a Cotopaxi backpack, lots of trail food to try out, and some very useful gear - water filter, utensils, bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottles, and more!
