Death Valley National Park, Texas Springs Campground, the Second Night

Death Valley National Park, Texas Springs Campground, the Second Night

Our second night camping at Texas Springs Campground was much more scenic than the first (see our earlier blog). We were able to get a spot in the lower circle with some trees surrounding us and a little bit softer ground which allowed us to get our stakes all the way in the ground. This turned out to be much more important than it was the previous night because we had 60 mph wind gusts and some rain overnight. Yes, rain in Death Valley.

This lower circle is tent only so some of the lots may be smaller than the ones further up the hill, but there's definitely better tent pad areas and it is a little more "picturesque". The sites seem to be a bit more spaced out with some nice places to "tuck" in a tent.

This campsite features some sinks with running water - for dishes and the like, not for drinking. It also has bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks. We didn't see any drinking water, but it was nice to have running water for rinsing dishes and muddy hands. Just behind our tent, there was a little ridge of land and on the other side, a babbling little creek. It made for some soothing sounds at bedtime, except when we couldn't hear it through the wind gusts. Our Marmot tent held up very well on this very gusty night!
